Battlefords Healthcare Foundation Launches Campaign During Lab Week to Enhance Lifesaving Lab Equipment.
The Battlefords, SK – In recognition of National Medical Laboratory Week (April 13-19), the Battlefords Healthcare Foundation is launching a vital new capital campaign: Test. Treat. Save Lives. To raise $400,000, this campaign will support critical upgrades to the core lab systems at Battlefords Union Hospital—advancing the speed and efficiency of diagnostic testing for patients across our region.
“Timely testing saves lives. With this campaign, we’re not starting from scratch—we’re enhancing the essential lab systems our hospital relies on every day,” says Leanne Ducommun, Executive Director of the Foundation. “These upgrades will lead to faster results, quicker treatment decisions, and improved outcomes for patients and families during the most critical moments.”
Funds raised through this campaign will support essential upgrades to:
• Blood Culture Identification System – for rapid identification of bloodstream infections such as sepsis.
• Microbial Identification and Susceptibility System – to pinpoint infections and determine the most effective antibiotics.
• Blood Culture Incubator and Microbial Detection System – to speed up early detection and improve diagnostic workflow.
• O2 Incubator – for enhanced culturing capabilities across a range of test samples.
Whether it’s a child in emergency, a senior in long-term care, or a patient undergoing cancer treatment, accurate lab results are at the core of timely and effective care. These upgraded systems will improve response times, reduce hospital stays, and help healthcare teams deliver the right treatments, faster.
From test to treatment, every second counts—and every donation makes a difference.
The Test. Treat. Save Lives. campaign invites the community to be part of a lasting investment in local healthcare—supporting technology that touches nearly every patient who walks through the hospital doors.
